To determine the value of $500 in the 1920s in Canada, we need to adjust for inflation.
According to the Bank of Canada's inflation calculator, $500 in 1920 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $8,100 in 2025 dollars.
It's important to note that this calculation is based on the average annual Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Canada. The actual inflation rate for specific goods or services may have differed from the average CPI.
Side note: Since 2021 - post pandemic - general inflation has gone up about 23%.
